WEBINAR “En-ROADS Climate Simulation Workshop
This workshop helps to understand climate change mitigation options by interacting with En-ROADS, a system dynamics-based global climate simulator developed by Climate Interactive and MIT Sloan. En-ROADS is based on the most comprehensive and robust scientific data available, and has been rigorously benchmarked against a diverse set of integrated model assessments that span both the climate and energy domains. Workshop participants have the opportunity to select climate change mitigation measures from around 30 policies. These policies encompass various strategies such as energy efficiency, carbon pricing, fossil fuel taxes, reducing deforestation and carbon dioxide removal. The facilitator then enters the suggestions into En-ROADS, enabling participants to immediately examine the impact of the chosen policies on variables such as global temperature, energy costs, air quality and sea level. What's more, they can compare the results with their own expectations. The learning experience is both informative and action-oriented. The workshop is designed to be facilitated by "ambassadors" who have received training in En-ROADS. It has been presented to various international audiences, such as the US Congress, Statnett in Norway, the Energy Transition Forum in London, HSBC Bank, the US Climate Action Network and the Office of the Secretary General of the United Nations, among many other notable organizations. The En-ROADS simulator is available free of charge in several languages at: https://en-roads.climateinteractive.org/
